"...You'll Be My American Boy..."

Last night was that nerve-wrecking night when you don't know how something specific might go but you know it is crucial to future relationships. Where you're sitting in between two important people who are meeting for the first time and you want to make sure that they hit it off, but if they don't you need to survive the awkward moments, the strange silences and the looks that say i really want to leave right now.

Well for me, that event was my brother, Juan Antonio aka JA, meeting my new guy, Mike. Yes, it turns out he does like me, did make a move, and let me know :D happy times.

So last night I went to Origami (delicious sushi) with JA and Mike. Origami is about a block away so Mike met us at the front of my building and we walked. I introduced them, the walk was awkward but as soon as we hit the restaurant and sat down everything fell into place. Before you knew it we were laughing, eating, drinking and having a great time. But there must always be those awkward moments at first, i believe it makes it special and memorable. Mike has known the manager there for quite some time, as a matter of fact I had met him already because Origami is where Mike and I went for our first "dinner date".

So we sat upstairs where the manager works specifically and grubbed. The manager, who's name is Takeshi treated us to some delicious saki, which cost $60 for a maybe 16 oz. bottle and a saki that is made naturally, not processed through a machine at all, made in the beautiful light of day. He then treated us to these new rolls on the menu called Philly Ex (which we believe is short for Philly Ecstacy, for what it does in your mouth which is glorious). All in all it was a great night. JA was fascinated by Mike's work and the fact that he was a good 'ol union boy democrat who worked hard...which is always good.

After leaving there about 2 1/2 hours later, my bro went back home to work and me and Mike hit up Gluek's to hear this live band playing which was great. I can not remember the guys name, but i know its [first name] earl.

the band consisted of guitar, bass, keyboard, drums (which the drummer would flirt with me in Mike's face on purpose because he's a dick) trumpet and sax. GREAT BAND!

After that Mike dropped me off at home and as we're sitting there talking in front of my front entrance and old man i had never seen before came out, looking shaky and paranoid, staring at us and pulls out his cell, runs back inside grabs the security desk phone and starts calling the cops. All this after Mike, with good intention, put down the window to see if he needed something because he was staring so much.

We had to drive away, park the car on the curb so the guy would stop. Mike walked me to the door, we had a cig, talked, and in all that time the guy didnt show up, he had left. it was pretty bizarre and i cant figure out why he did that. all i can say (and this coming from a woman who works at orchestra hall who's patrons are mostly 60+) is that old ppl are CRAZY !
