Whiskey, Skinny Jeans, Marvelle and the Spanish Civil War

Friday night. I'm home. Whiskey drink. Cooking a delicious pasta on the stove. RHCP playing on my Mac. Home alone.

I now realize how much I enjoy solitude.

Last night I went to First Ave & 7th Street Entry to hear my manager's boyfriend's (aka our IT guy at work) band, Marvelle. The band, THANK GOD ALMIGHTY, did not sound like every other fucking "Indie" band that this country has to offer. Every "Indie" band, which by the way only God knows what constitutes an "Indie" band, includes at least two members with beatles hair covering one eye, awkward kicking dance moves, a wack ass drummer (for lack of a better adjective) and really tight skinny jeans HA HA HA HA...

this band however included bass, drums, electric violin and a painter. Yes, a painter. An adorable, blonde, curly-haired girl painter who was wearing a really nice jacket might I add.

My manager and I first stopped at Palomino, I think it's called, she ate something and I ahd a beer. Then we headed over to First Ave. Which for those who don't know is a music venue here in Minneapolis. Famous Famous music venue, where every artist you can think of has played. It is the home of Prince, and is precisely where Purple Rain was shot and based on (setting wise).

The band had a very dramatic, epic, and beautiful feel to it. I enjoyed it very much. The sound unfortunately I did not. The balance was all off and the bass was set too low. It was very off. The painter, she creates a painting in the whole sets time frame, which last night was about 40 minutes. They were opening for another band. She came up with a "cute painting". From what I hear she has done better. All her paintings are for sale, and she is having an exhibit so I might swing by to check out her other paintings.

"Damn my pasta sauce is coming out good" - sorry, tangent.

Well as for my Friday night. i'm home doing all my homework, since I work tomorrow (a long long shift) and Sunday as well. So tonight it's me and my art book reading on German Expressionism and also the birth of Architecture dating back to the 1600s.

After that some comparison between Malcom X, Martin L. King, and what Goldman says about 'em.

Yup, that's my night, and I love it.

And when i'm done with all that, i'm going to sit back and watch a 6 hour BBC documentary my brother downloaded on the Spanish Civil War. :]

What? Dorky? Geeky? Well fuck you guys ! ;]
